This is Lake Street Dive. Don't mind the acronym...it
was by accident. Our creator, the wonderfully talented
trumpeter/ composer Mike Olson is from Minneapolis. There
is a Lake Street in Minneapolis, and there's a dive bar
on it somewhere.
Anyway, this band also includes a very talented singer,
Rachael Price, and one of my favorite bassists in the
world, Bridget Kearney. I've never been in a band that's
tried more diverse stuff.
The summer of 2006 brought us together to tour the midwest
and consequently to record our new album "in this
episode..." Both endeavors were funded by Bridget's
winnings in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition for
her tune "Sometimes When I Am Drunk (And You're Wearing
My Favorite Shirt)" which was recorded by Lake Street
Dive. The album features 11 other tracks (including one
by yours truly) that take you through harrowing travel
experiences, uncathartic cathartic realizations, and breakfast
foods.
Keep your eyes and ears peeled for the Dive...they might
be heading to a town near you soon.
